MAPS!!

After 2 long weeks,  the series of maps are done,  1 for each day of the ride.   Let me know if there's any sights to swing by (if they're not too far outta the way).    Each city is followed by the mileage for the day,  and the elevations listed as +/- X,XXX

Grabbing some more gear from REI tonight, and should be getting final details together this weekend.  It'll be nice to get to just wait for the ride and be done with planning,  my head is taking more abuse than my legs.  Also,  tomorrow's my last ride into the office so I can get some rest with 10 days to go.  Thanks for checking in!!

First Post

First time writing on here,  but there's still a ton of planning to do...

I'll be taking backroads from Saginaw to Chicago, before following frontage roads and abandoned highways all along Route 66 to the coast.  Here's a quick guide, http://www.historic66.com/ ,  but I plan to post more info over the coming weeks.

I've scheduled for 24 Days,  which I'm hoping gets cut down to 20, but I want to be flexible for how I feel/heat/rain/traffic.

So here are the target cities to hit each day, and hopefully have a soft bed and a hot meal each night.

Saginaw, MI
152 M to Kalamazoo, MI
147 M to Chicago, IL
77 M to Dwight, IL
129 M to Springfield, IL
99 M to St. Louis, MO
106 M to Rolla, MO
183 M to Joplin, MO
113 M to Tulsa, OK
106 M to Oklahoma City, OK
128 M to Sayre, OK
132 M to Amarillo, TX
113 M to Tucumcari, NM
60 M to Santa Rosa, NM
122 M to Santa Fe, NM
63 M to Albuquerque, NM
137 M to Gallup, NM
95 M to Holbrook, AZ
90 M to Flagstaff, AZ
79 M to Seligman, AZ
87 M to Kingman, AZ
67 M to Needles, CA
160 M to Barstow, CA
76 M to San Bernardino, CA
80 M to Santa Monica, CA

The desert sections should be the most fun,  since temps should reach 120+ each day, so I will be really changing up my schedule and possibly riding overnight. I've really lowered the mileage these days to be a little flexible for the conditions,  but if the weather is favorable and I'm feeling good,  I will start into the next days section.  The desert stretches from Amarillo, TX all the way to San Bernardino, CA.   San Bernardino is the furthest outstretch of LA and will finally be the return to some urban riding AKA plenty of food, water, help.

I hope to update this everyday once I'm on the road,  but for now there's not much to report until my maps and equipment are all ready to go.   19 Days to go..

Thanks for checking in!
