Rained out

Rough day to leave Gallup as the surprise monsoons kept on all afternoon. I waited 3 hrs for the storms to blow over, but at 3pm decided to call it off. A little frustrating to stay amped up to ride the 90 miles to Holbrook and have to sit on your hands. Gonna get an early start on Monday, and take it easy tonight with the cubs game and some beer. I'm ready to get outaa dodge.

  1. Alan! Sorry for the hold-up in Dodge... I mean Gallup - lol. Hang in there. Our family is having a good time following your Route 66 ride and cheering for you. When you are in Southern California, remember we are here as couchsurfers and bike lovers to welcome you! Let us know if you'd like us to pick you and your bike up in San Bernardino and bring you home for a good dinner and good night's sleep in our home (to Crestline in the San Bernardino mountains). Our elevation here is 5,000 feet and many people bike it but it's only a 15 minute car drive from the base of the hill (in San Bernardino) to Crestline - and we'd be happy to drive you as long as you arrive in San Bernardino before we leave on our trip on August 9. Just let us know if we can support you on this final leg of your journey (909.338.2999). All the best to you, Alan. ~ Denise Grissom Bradford and family (from CouchSurfers) :)
